Update on new schools

It has just been announced that bidders will be able to submit applications for the new Primary Schools and Secondary School in Bishop's Stortford North during the Spring Term. BSET will be bidding and our plan will be to successfully establish these new schools in the heart of the new Bishops Stortford North housing development so they can cater for local children effectively from Reception to Sixth Form. As there is likely to be a delay in opening the schools until 2020, the BSET Schools will offer dual registration to incoming families so their children will be educated in existing schools until they can transfer to their new places of learning.

Bishop's Stortford Educational Trust (BSET) Seminar

BSET ConferenceSean Harford, the National Director for Ofsted, was guest of honour at a Bishop's Stortford Educational Trust (BSET) Seminar held at Birchwood High School on the 30 November. In attendance were Headteachers, School Leaders, Classroom Teachers and Governors from a large number of local primary and secondary schools. Sean gave an illuminating talk around findings from inspections this year and some proposed changes with the arrival of the new HMCI, Amanda Spielman in the New Year.

Principal, Chris Ingate, said that the talk was extremely helpful and constructive with discussions also around workload and teacher marking. Dr Ingate said that BSET hoped to widen its role and mutual support for education in and around Bishop's Stortford in 2017.
